CMIC Donates Lorad Mill Mammography Unit to Nicaragua in Central America

In early March Central Maine Imaging Center was contacted by Dr. Robert Bach to inquire about donating imaging equipment. Dr. Bach is the president of Partners in Health of Maine which is a nonprofit, nondenominational organization whose mission is to provide health services, training, education and volunteer opportunities for health care providers in third world countries. As it happens CMIC did have a Lorad MIII mammography machine that had not been used in over ten months and the partners at Central Maine Imaging decided that donating this equipment would be a worthwhile endeavor. On March 21st our equipment was picked up and put into a sea container that is bound for small village outside of the capital city of Nicaragua in Central America. It is exciting to know that this donation will help hundreds of women who will now have access to mammography technology that they previously did not have access to.
